Connect Words; Julie Connery

Here is a guest post from Julie, from Connect Words. She shared her #putyourphonedown activity with us. And we’re very glad she did!

At Get Lost Sailing we are passionate about getting people to #putyourphonedown and go and spend time doing something else. Our attitude is that if you want to play on boats with us that’s cool but whatever you do to #putyourphonedown we are always happy to hear about it. Whatever it is.

So, feel free to get in touch with us and let us know what it is you do.

Julie says:

My passion is very simple –  the thing that ALWAYS makes me put my phone down is walking. Yes you read right, walking. Not just any old walking but walking along the coast taking in the beauty of the breath-taking ocean, particularly on a cold, crisp, clear day. I love walking with my dog or, alone or with friends and family. Any way suits me because I just love, love, love being in the great outdoors appreciating the skyline, nature and the beauty that really is all around us.

I find that it really grounds and relaxes me. If I’m feeling stressed a good, long walk never fails to alleviate that feeling as I breathe in the air and feel the earth beneath my feet.

I try to walk every single day, even if it’s just for ten minutes as it gives me a real sense of freedom and connection to the world around me. The beautiful thing about walking is that it’s free. Not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to walk and so I fully appreciate the fact that I am able to, and make the most of it whenever I can.
